Tullyroan Oval in association with Spedeworth Motorsports are very proud to announce details of a major National Banger fixture in March 2013 - the Tony Gilmore Memorial Meeting.

Tony Gilmore - or 'Happy' Gilmore as he was often known - was a larger than life character both on and off the track, and sadly passed away aged just 46 in 2011 after a brave battle with cancer. Tony was a friend to everyone around the raceways regardless of what team they represented, and was also a real family man too.

On behalf of Tony's friends and family, Tullyroan Oval are proud to stage the Tony Gilmore Memorial Meeting, which will take place on Saturday March 16th and Sunday March 17th - St Patrick's weekend. As well as a full programme of racing over both days, there will also be a tent/marquee with live entertainment and a bar on Saturday night. The aim of the meeting is also to raise a considerable amount for FORDS care - the oval racing benevolent fund for drivers and staff.

The weekend will also feature Rookie Bangers too, as well as 2.0 Hot Rods, Lightning Rods, ProStocks, Junior Productions and Reliant Robins. Already a number of National Banger drivers from mainland UK have signalled their intent to be present for the big occasion, which will see the best of Irish Banger racing have a crash and a beer in memory of a special friend.

The first of the 2013 Rules and Regulations are now available, for our 3 Spedeworth formulae 2.0 Hot Rods, Superstox and Ninja Karts.

The 2.0 Hot Rods will continue to be the backbone of our racing at Tullyroan Oval in 2013, and big grids should continue to be the order of the day with the British Championship up for grabs at our July Spedeweekend. The Superstox have seen a rush of interest too, and with nine confirmed cars already at this early stage things are looking excellent for their debut in April. The Ninja Karts have seen an unprecedented response, and we should see a number of second and indeed third generation youngsters on the grid in the new season. Already the number of karts is well into the teens, and no doubt Santa will have a few strapped on the back of his sleigh too!
Rules for our other classes will follow in due course once released.

To view the 2013 Rules and Regulations for each formula, click on 'Drivers' on the menu bar above, then 'Formulae and Rules' before choosing the required formula.

Also available are Driver Contract forms for 2013, both the Tullyroan Oval forms and the Spedeworth forms which should be used by Stock Rod drivers. To view these click on 'Drivers' on the menu bar above, then 'Formulae & Rules' and 'General Information'.

The latest points have now been issued following the first of our winter meeting on November 25th.

The 2.0 Hot Rods World Championship qualifying chart sees European and British Champion Shane Murray lead the way over Adam Best and Mark Madill. In the Lightning Rods, Irish Champion Jordan Rochford tops their 2013 Championship qualifying table, with David Hearst and Winston Weir chasing hard. The final update is for the National Bangers, where Team Buckle's Noel Anderson jumps ahead after his excellent performance in the RWD meeting. Reigning Track Champion Steven Reynolds and Kieran McIvor are in second and third spots respectively.

To view the points charts, click on 'Drivers' in the menu bar above, then 'Points & Grades' and select the appropriate formula.

During October Tullyroan Oval were pleased to host the BBC See Hear programme for the deaf community. The programme centred around deaf 2.0 Hot Rod racer Leigh Nicholl, and also featured hard of hearing Stock Rod star Marc Morrell.

Many thanks to Leigh and Marc for helping to promote the sport at Tullyroan Oval, and to everyone else who helped to make the feature possible. To view the programme on the BBC IPlayer, click on the link below

Tullyroan Oval in association with Spedeworth Motorsports are proud to announce that Maxwell Freight Services have agreed to come on board as principal sponsors of the Stock Rods Tullyroan Points Championship for 2013. The Stock Rods will become a full time formula with us next year, and we will be licencing our own drivers and offering places in the major championship races. The 1400cc FWD machines are ideally suited to the Tullyroan bowl and will no doubt serve up some great racing. We are very grateful to Maxwell Freight Services, one of the UK's leading international hauliers, for their support of the Stock Rods Points Championship, for which a number of new Yokohama tyres will be up for grabs for the top three drivers at the end of the season.
For all your Yokohama tyres in Northern Ireland, contact official supplier Adam Maxwell on 07921 176120.

The Stock Rods will also have a 3 round mini-series during 2013 at Tullyroan Oval. These series have proved very popular with the other classes in recent years, and we are pleased to announce that the Stock Rod will race in 2013 for the PC Paints and Components Challenge Series. Proprietor Rodney Wallace is a great supporter of Ulster oval racing, and his Ballymoney based motor factors business stocks brakes, exhausts, batteries, clutches, filters and much more. Full ranges of car and commercial paints, preparation products, consumables and chemicals are also available. At each round and the Grand Final PC Paints and Components will be providing some excellent prizes of toolboxes, tools and equipment, and once again we are very grateful to Rodney for coming on board with Tullyroan Oval in association with Spedeworth Motorsport and sponsoring this series.

2013 looks set to be a boom year for the Stock Rods formula at Tullyroan Oval - The Ultimate in Ulster Oval Racing.
