Latest ProStocks Points and Grades Online
The latest ProStocks points and regradings are now available, with the chart headed by the two major champions in the division. Current Irish title holder Dave Morrison leads the way, with recently crowned Irish Open Champion Ryan Abernethy chasing hard in second. These new grades come into effect from this Sunday's meeting at Nutts Corner Raceway.

With no meeting ourselves at Nuttscorner Oval this weekend, some of our other classes have 'away' trips to keep them busy. The 2.0 Hot Rods contest Round 2 of the LJN DeSigns/Hoosier Tires Series at Ballymena Raceway on Friday August 25th, whilst in the Lightning Rods the Emerson brothers, Stephen and Mervyn, will be competing at Arena Essex on Sunday for the British Championship. Both will then head to Eastbourne on Monday to take in the Spedeworth Bank Holiday fixture, before the formula have their latest outing at Nutts Corner Raceway on Wednesday September 1st.

Wilson Crowned King of Nuttscorner
Gary Wilson used all his experience to clinch victory in a thrilling King of Nuttscorner for the 2.0 Hot Rods at Nuttscorner Oval on Sunday. The heats had fallen to David McMenemy and Glen Hetherington, but consistency saw Denver McLean earn pole spot and he was surely everyone’s favourite for the victory. But the weather had decided to intervene, with a sudden downpour leaving the track awash just as the LJN DeSigns-backed final lined up. Adam Heatrick had driven well to claim the outside of the front row, with Wilson third on the grid.
It took a couple of attempts to get the final going, with David McMenemy finding the back straight wall at the first time of asking. McLean settled into an early lead with the cars slip sliding all over the treacherous track, but as Heatrick dropped back Denver soon had Wilson looking for the top spot. Hetherington still wasn’t out of contention either, but as Wilson got through on the inside to take it up all eyes were on Davy Clarke, who had roared through from grid nine to now lie second. McLean took the spot back from Clarke later on, but Wilson was home and dry to his second feature race win in as many weeks, from McLean, Clarke and an impressive Ed Litter from well down the grid.

Former National, European and Irish Champion Nigel Jackson returned to the fold in the Lightning Rods in the Andy Cochrane car, and he was soon back in the groove with a fine win in the second heat. Earlier Aaron Stewart claimed a welcome victory in the first encounter, before Randalstown driver Tim Hazlett stamped his authority on the final in no uncertain terms. Ironically driving Jackson’s old car, the young driver stormed through from the reds to leave the more established names trailing in his wake for what was an emphatic victory, with Stephen Emerson runner-up.

Derek McMillan once again was the star turn in the Junior Productions, as he followed his two second places from the heats with yet another final win. Jack Gilpin and Lee McCracken were the heat winners, but the day will no doubt be remembered for the horrendous accident in the final. McCracken, Deborah McCann and Jordan Rochford all thundered into the wall at full pace entering the back straight, and whilst the cars were badly damaged it was a testimony to the strength of them that no one was injured.

The topsy-turvy entries in the ProStocks continued once again, as we dropped from almost thirty at the last meeting right down to the low teens. Billy Finnegan Jnr continued his good recent run of form with wins in both heats, and the instant upgrading to yellow for the final, coupled with the beginnings of a downpour nearing the end, was enough to allow Adrian McKinstry to steal through for the feature race win.

Many Thanks to our meeting sponsor, LJN DeSigns of Ballykelly.

Latest Points for Lightning Rods, National Bangers & Reliant Robins
The latest points standings are now available online for the Lightning Rods, Reliant Robins and National Bangers. Stephen Emerson has been in blinding form so far in 2010 and he holds a commanding lead in the Lightning Rods, whilst Jimmy Beattie tops the pack in the Reliant Robins. The National Bangers chart is topped by recent form man Barry McCardle from Steven Reynolds.

Please note that the National Bangers chart is a Track Championship chart which includes all visiting drivers. Our representatives for the World Finals later this year will be taken from this chart, but these positions will only be open to drivers who hold a full Nuttscorner Oval ORCi Licence.

1400 National Bangers Irish Falls to McIvor
On a day when the hits were as strong as the sunshine, Coleraine driver Kieran McIvor avoided the carnage to claim the 1400 National Bangers Irish Championship. There was action aplenty all around the raceway, with Daryl Gilshenan and Mark Hughes both in the thick of the action, while BombSquad man Dave Haugh performed a nice rollover on the home straight. McIvor took the flag from Barry McCardle and Keith McMahon, before Marty McKiernan took the support heat and Gilshenan the DD. Best presented car went to Mark Hughes of the Assassins, whilst McKiernan also bagged the Entertainer of the Day award. It was an excellent day from the National Bangers, all served up in an excellent atmosphere with smiles and handshakes all round.

Young Bradley Dynes stepped up to the 2.0 Hot Rods for his debut in the ex-Wayne Woolsey World Championship winning machine, but it was veteran racer Gary Wilson who grabbed the JMC Mechanical and Construction-backed final. Earlier the heats had seen a welcome win for Gareth Hagan after his recent run of poor luck, and the second in a week for Nigel McCauley. Both were in contention for the final too, before Wilson came storming round the outside to take the win from Feargal McNally, now of course behind the wheel of the ex-Woolsey Peugeot 205.

A brace of heat wins saw Ben McKee upgraded to red grade for the Lightning Rods final, from where he returned to second behind winner Gary Beggs. Beggs had been having a somewhat fraught afternoon up until then, but showed that he is probably too good for his yellow grading with a convincing victory. Earlier Dane Ferry had followed McKee home in both heats. The Lightning Rods now travel to Ballymena Raceway on Friday night for their guest appearance for the Yokohama Tyres Cup.

Like Ben McKee, Dan Campbell was another double heat winner in the Junior Productions, leading home Derek McMillan in heat one and Ben McCully in the second encounter. With Campbell now graded red for the final, McMillan seized the initiative to steal through for an emphatic final win, with McCully again in second and Lee McCracken third.

Abernethy Claims Irish Open ProStocks Title
Dungannon driver Ryan Abernethy claimed his first major title at Nuttscorner Oval on Saturday night when a superb drive saw him scoop the Irish Open Championship for the ProStocks. Almost 30 cars were in action, including Scottish Champion Tam Melrose, but he found things tough as he was turned aside on lap one of the first heat. Recent newcomer Billy Finnegan Jnr held on to win that one from pole position, with Abernethy already looking good in second. Heat two saw Stefan McClelland surge through to win from Irish Champ Dave Morrison, although it was Morrison who claimed pole spot for the Championship final. He soon took charge at the head of the field, until a clash with Alan Haugh saw him sidelined. Abernethy was looming large by this stage, and powered through to take it up and never looked back until the chequers fell. McClelland came through to second late on, with Haugh taking third ahead of Jason Beggs.

The 2.0 Hot Rods again put on a blinding show, and Vince Campbell took the Fairhill Bar-sponsored final after a confident drive from the yellow grade for his second feature race win of the year. Nigel McCauley took a rare win earlier in heat one, before Adam Hylands, at the wheel of his recently acquired ex-McClure Saxo, took heat two after on the road winner Campbell was judged to have gained an unfair advantage by jumping the start. It was certainly a good night for young Hylands, who could well go on now to considerable success in his new mount.

European Lightning Rod Champion Stephen Emerson got off to a good start for the night by nipping past Andy Cochrane on a late restart to take heat one, before Cochrane made amends with the victory in heat two. The final was all about Ben McKee though, as he powered away to claim the win and the trophy from Cochrane and Mervyn Emerson. Once again it was an excellent night’s entertainment from the Lightning Rods.

There were a couple of new faces out in the Robins with the promise of more to come, but it was the old hands who came out on top when the wins were handed out. Jimmy Beattie took the first heat, before Ian Bolton took over to land a heat and final double.

Due to technical difficulties we apologise as there are no MyLaps timings from this meeting, and all will hopefully be restored for next weekend.

On Sunday at Nutts Corner Raceway, young Jack Gilpin took a heat and final brace in the Junior Productions for his first ever feature race win, with the other heat falling to Dan Campbell.

Many thanks to our meeting sponsor, The Fairhill Bar, Ahoghill
